The annual contest will be held at the Littleton Congregational Church, 330 King St. Littleton. Registration is at 8:30 am, Hippology will begin at 9 am, and Horse Bowl will begin at 11am.

To earn a spot on the county team that will practice to compete at State Horse Roundup in April you must attend this competition.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective of Horse Hippology Competition is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H horse projects, to demonstrate their knowledge of equine-related matters in a competitive setting, where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. We hope that this competition will provide an educational experience for participants.

Hippology Competition is a written test with part of it being visual identification of related materials. Beginners: answer 1-25 questions plus the visual part; Juniors: answer 1-50 plus the visual part; Seniors: answer 1-100 plus the visual part.

The top ten placing Juniors and top ten Seniors in the County competition are invited to be on the county team of each. Each team will be comprised of 4 members with an alternate, they will go on to compete at the State Horse Hippology contest held in the Spring at “Horse Roundup” The top finishing “seniors” at State will be invited to be on the State team that goes to Nationals.
